Each song here tells a story of simple poetry and moving truth, be it about a personal relationship, or else, the state of the world in which it was written.
The lyrics are very visual and allow you almost to be in the place of which he sings. The music underscores them beautifully.
There are no wild or way-out solos, no loud or brash chord changes, but simply, instead, a sure foundation on top of which Bruce delivers a voice which is shown to be aging beautifully.
The anger seems to be in full force on the now-ubiquitous ‘Born In The USA’ and then plateau out towards the acceptance and wisdom of his early old (and middle) age with songs such as ‘The Ghost Of Tom Joad’ and ‘Wrecking Ball’.
All in all, then, a very full and satisfying listen.
