Scarcely has a compilation been more accurately named. Raw ragged guitar riffs and screaming vocals bludgeon the ears and threaten to make your head explode. That might sound a bit overly violent, but there’s a nice undercurrent of sleaze, undercutting it all.
This is an album that there has obviously been a lot of time and consideration put into the making of. As well as the enthusiasm of all good debuts, there is real heart and muscle evident in the playing of these songs. It is as though these guys think that this is the only chance [...]
This is the debut release from this Swindon quintet and it showcases their obvious keenness and boisterous energy beautifully.
Landscapes and travel are very much to the fore on this album. Where The Lowland Hundred’s previous effort concentrated on ‘inner landscapes’ (people’s state of mind and where they were at physically, during a particular time in their lives), Adit is very much about looking forward and moving on.
There’s a real, resounding eerieness which lies beneath the sound here. It’s very unsettling but quite exciting at the same time
