If only the World Cup didn’t have to end, K’naan could have potentially been Afrobeat’s greatest ever crossover star. Still, this high-powered Bob Sinclair remix couldn’t arrive at a better time. Amadou and Miriam (the blind couple from Mali, mandatory subtitle) sound quite at home even backed by Sinclair’s generic beat.
It’s quite a contrast from the album version and some of the rock and roll charm has been sacrificed in favour of creating a livelier dance sound but will be more appealing to the uninitiated this way, a smart move. Also features a remix by Radioclit, who doesn’t sound like someone you’d want to introduce to your parents.
