Adam Donen
Immortality (Walker & Orfing)
Adam Donen takes a fresh approach to the singer / song writing style with elements of spaghetti western coming through in some of the guitar playing, combined with violins and piano to create a very unique sound. Overall, minimalist seems to describe most of this album, with impressive crescendos rising from whispers.
However, while the approach is fresh, the songs sound far too alike. There is certainly enough good material for an EP, but the nine track Long Player seemed stretched.
With a bit more variety the album would be a great listen all the way through, but as it stands, you easily lose track of where a song finishes and starts.
This being said, the songs as stand alone tracks are definitely interesting and a pleasure to listen to, and perhaps the blending together effect is what Adam Donen was looking to create.
